Home!

Ahhhh, to be home again! After another 2 week vacation, I am so glad to be home again and just relax and get into the regular routine. We had 7 hours of traveling on our way home; 5 hours of actual flying and 2 hours at a lay over in Houston. It felt so good to get off that plane and see my parents, and just ride home in our own car, and go home. But then when we got home I had to unpack, the not so fun part. I still have not fully put everything in it's proper home, but give me a couple weeks and it'll be all nice and clean again.

Yesterday, I checked my e-mail, talked to a friend for a while, finished up on the computer, and we went to town. I had a chiropractor appointment (for those of you who didn't know, I have scoliosis (curvature of the spine)), and then we went to Hobby Lobby, and then my sister and I ate burritos at Twisters. Yum, it was so good!

Then we went over to the neighbors when we got home and played a bit of golf. Well my sister played golf with the neighbor and I went and fetched all the golf balls.

Not much anything that's new around here... Excpet that my parents made a few remodelings around the house and new items of furniture, etc.

Oh, yes, I can't forget to mention this part. It also felt so good when we got off the plane here in Albuquerque to have the temperature outside be in the 70s and like no humidity (in comparison to Florida). I like the weather here a whole lot better! And it's hard to believe it's in the 50s outside right now. It's going to be a cold and harsh winter this year.

Anyway, it just feels so good to be home once again; to just swing in the hammock under the treehouse and just relax outside without sweating to death in the heat.

I better go for now. I think I'm about out of time for internet. I think I'm going to go ride my bike and run with the dog. You all have an awesome day ang God Bless, ~Butterfly~

Home Sweet Home~Here I Come!

Hello everybody!

I'm leavning Florida today around noon and heading back home! I can't wait to get back home again! 4 weeks of vacation this year is quite a bit and enough for me! I don't have anything new to say, just thought I'd say "Hi" to ya'll. Prayers for a safe 7 hour flight! God Bless, ~Butterfly~

Orlando: Sea World!!!

Hey everybody! I'm back and I had the most awesome time ever! First I'll start off with where I last left off, which if I remember correctly would be Thursday...

On Friday we did mostly nothing, except finish up last minute things for our trip down South and, of course the regular routine, etc. So not much news that you missed out on there.

Sabbath morning... We got up kind of early and got ready to go. Nana and Papa went and took the dogs to the "kennels," where they stayed while we were down in Orlando. Finally after loading up, we hit the road. We drove for about 2 1/2 hours to Orlando, but the ride didn't seem that long at all. Maybe all that driving this summer up towards Idaho and Motana got me used to driving... I wonder...

Anyway, when we got to Orlando we just checked in at our "hotel" (well really I think you would call it a resort). We had a really nice suite. Nemo and I had seperate rooms from Nana and Papa, along with our own beds. Then also there was a living room (oh, and each bedroom and the living room and nice big tvs...) and also amazingly, a laundry room. Then there was the kitchen, fully equipped with utensils, dishes, a nice refrigerator, a stove, dishwasher... it was really nice! Some guy gave us like a 30 minute tour of the room and then showed us brochures, etc. of different places nearby (the attractions and restaurants, etc.).

Then after that we went and ate lunch at Pizza Hut. Afterwards on the way back to the hotel I called an awesome friend of mine back and we talked for quite a while.

That evening we were going to go play minature golf, but by the time we found the place they were closed... Oh well...

We went back to the hotel and swam in the pool for a little while.

Sunday mornin'... We got up early, showered, ate, and headed over to Sea World. It was already beginning to get hot and muggy out, but hey, it's Florida... We parked the truck and walked towards the entrance. The place was busy (but not quite packed), even though it's September and school is back in session. I would hate to see the crowds during the summer.

We watched 4 different performing shows that they had. It was awesome! We watched the pirate show with Clyde and Seamore (the seals); a pet show with dogs, cats, ducks, a pig, etc. We also watched the baby Shamu presentation. That one would have to be either the best or tied with the next one... Anyway... The one about Shamu was totally great. I absolutely loved it! Oh yeah, and a new killer whale ("Shamu") had been born just 6 days before! I didn't get any photos of the show itself, because I was video taping most of it... But my sister did get some really great ones of the dolphins and whales (etc) jumping in the air and into the water, etc. It's amazing how smart these animals are... It only proves who our Creator is! The last show that we watched was one of their newest shows: New Horizons. It is of dolphins and whales, encluding a trapeeze act to go along with it all. It was great! I love the way the people will dive (from way up) into the water and then come up standing on the nose of a dolphin or whale. If you guys haven't been there, you've got to go. This place is a must see.

Besides the shows we saw quite an array of animals: Dolphins, Sting Rays, Alligators, Manatees, Penguins, Sharks, and lots of others...

Nana, my sister, and I decided that we were going to go on the huge roller coaster, etc., and that before lunch would be a good idea... So we were going to ride "Journey to Atlantis" first (since it was a smaller one, as well as getting soaked) to try it out. I bet you we stood in line for 30-45 minutes to ride this one. And of course, the ride only lasts about 2-3 minutes. It was fun though! This ride takes you through a dark tunnel with scary images in the corners/along the sides that glow and are spoooky. Then it takes you up a hill and drops you down into a pool of water! Then you go back up and go into this completely pitch black tunnel and then suddenly it drops you at (almost 90 degree drop?) a very fast rate and then you stop and get out..

Then we got in line to ride "Kranken." (Pronounced "Crankin'") This is the HUGE (I mean HUGE) roller coaster that goes SUPER fast and turns you upside down at least half a dozen times! We waited in line for a minimum of 45 minutes for this and I wouldn't doubt it if it was over an hour. It was quite a long time. We were all scared and wanted to turn back, but we didn't. When we finally got on it, there was NO turning back! It took us up a steep incline, and then dropped us, taking us upside down twice, spinning downwards in a spiral upside down (my most favorite part!!!), and then doing lots of other stuff. It was fun, but I wouldn't do it again for a 2 minute ride with a 45 minute wait like that!

For the remainder of the afternoon we ate and viewed more animals. This was a totally amazing experience and guess what? We only saw about (if even) 2/3 of the park. That was a bummer, but hey I enjoyed it as much as I did and loved it!

Nearing closing time we rushed to see the sharks quickly and then Nana and I walked FAST to a shop that we had been in before to get me a t-shirt that I had seen and liked. Turns out I (unplanned) got the same t-shirt that my sister had picked out. I also bought some postcards, magnets, and a dolphin stuffed animal for my sister.

We then met Papa and my sister at the exit, bought some pictures of us that they had taken when we first entered the park, and went back to the hotel.

I talked to my mom on the phone and then Nana, my sister, and I walked to the little store inside the customer service and bought a couple more postcards and ice cream. Then we went to the pool and swam for a while. We had the pool all to ourselves! It was nice! My legs hurt so bad from walking like 5 miles... It hurt really bad to just stand... walking wasn't so bad, but swimming in the pool felt a whole lot better!

Then we ate ice cream and went to bed.

This morning my sister and I got up, showered, packed up all our clothes and stuff, ate breakfast, loaded up the truck, went to a souvenir shop, and came back "home."

Now we're here all unloaded, packed back up to go back home and I'm online here writing to you all. But you know what I think I've been on here long enough and I should close this up.

My sister has some great photos that she took of dolphins and maybe some other time I'll put them on here. I wish I had gotten some of the type that she did, but I got it on tape and I enjoy that a whole lot more than just photos (when it comes to re-experiencing your vacation).

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the few photos and my adventures at Sea World! I can't wait to get back home on Wednesday. There is no place like home. God Bless you all very much, ~Butterfly~

St. John's River Sunrise

This morning Nana woke me up a little after 5:30 and I got dressed quickly. I ate yogurt and drank a little orange and apple juice. Then we got in the car and headed out. It was still pretty dark outside. We drove down a ways, over to a place right on the river.

The sun was just barely beginning to come up, just emitting hardly any light.

As the sun started "rising" higher and higher I got out my cameras.

Swimming and BORED!

Bored.. I'll update this more later.

Ok, So here I am... Bored as ever... Today I did mostly nothing, installed a web cam for Nana on both her computers.

After lunch we walked the 1.2 miles to the nearby pool and swam for an hour or so. Then we walked the 1.2 miles back. Nothing interesting the rest of the day. I chatted with a great friend, wrote a LONG e-mail and then chatted with another awesome friend. Then I went to bed. Wait I'm getting ahead of myself, I havent't gone to bed yet. Amelia Island and more!

Hello once again! So where do I start... I guess I've forgotten to write yesterday and today. So I'll start with yesterday.

We got up semi early, did our regular routine, and then headed for the airport. We dropped off my parents.

Then we went to the base and went shopping. My guess is that we spent about 3 hours shopping, and then came home and ate lunch. We just hung around all day and did nothing. I checked my e-mail (and happened to forget about my site... how did I manage to do that?) and not much else interesting. We ate dinner and dessert and then I watched tv while checking my e-mail again. Then somehow the laptop got disconnected from the wireless network and we spent the rest of the evening trying to fix it. I even had to call my dad for help. Turns out that after I went to bed (I was so tired) Nana fixed it, and it was so simple. Press the on button...

This morning I kind of woke up late to begin with. When I woke up I watched "The Waltons" (I have a tv in my room) and then Papa finally came and told me that I better shower and get ready to go. So I got up, reluctantly, and showered, ate breakfast, and checked my e-mail.

Then Nana, my sister, and I, rode bikes and walked to the neighborhood park and played a little basketball, etc. Then we rode across the street to the pond and I photographed the ducks and birds there. Here are a couple photos of the ones I took.

When we left the house we were supposed to go some place, but missed the exit so we just kept headed North. If we would've gone too much farther I think we would've been in Georgia. So we finally took a turn and went towards Amelia Island. We stopped at one beach and I took some photos of the ocean once more and filmed some on the video camera. Here is a photo of seagulls on the beach in front of the Atlantic Ocean, along with a wave breaking in the background.

Then we drove somemore and rode across the St. John's River Ferry. That was cool and fun! I'd never been on a ferry before, but now I can say I have. Then we were going to go to a Marine Science Center, but never found it.

We are now home and oh, the smell of the cooking Minestrone is making me hungry! We haven't had lunch and of that smells so good. I can't wait until it's done. I think I should go for now. I need to upload Nana's photos onto her computer for her and then I don't know what I'm going to do. I need to go. Thanks and God Bless, ~Butterfly~

Mostly Boring!

Hey everyone! Yesterday, we really did nothing, just kind of-sort of relaxed. We just hung around for the earlier part of the day and then after lunch some of us went grocery shopping at WalMart and then went to Target to get some computer software. When we got back to the house we quickly changed into our swimming suits and drove down the street to the pool. We swam for about 2 hours, until the pool closed. We had fun! I went down the HUGE slide 3 times and actually brought myself to jump off the high board. That took quite a bit of courage from me.... Anyway, not much else interesting, but I guess I can bore you and tell you that the rest of the afternoon/evening we just hung loose, watched tv, checked e-mail, and nothing more than that. We did eat dinner though that evening. We had Mexican pizza! It was very good! We had root beer floats afterwards for dessert also. Not much new here. My parents leave here in like an hour to go back home. I'm bored now, what am I going to do when they leave? School work, I guess. Florida isn't all that great as people say. Unless you're into all the amusements (of the world) and are busy all the time, it's just like being in a hot area. Anyway, I need to probably go, and eat breakfast some time soon. Not much else!

So yesterday we went to church. We skipped Sabbath School (I don't know exactly why, maybe just to relax), but we did go to the regular service. It was very nice. We came back to the house and ate lunch (it was extemely good!) and then we loaded up and headed back down to St. Augustine/the beach. We changed when we got there and, for the first time, I put my feet in the sand of the ocean and the ocean. It was so cool! We all went and walked down and "rode" the waves. Man, it was awesome! I would love to come here everyday, but only if there was NO salt in the water. I absolutely loved it! Except for the part when the salt water gets in your eyes and then in the first place I had to take my glasses off and then with the salt water burning in my eyes I can't see a thing. So anyway. Also, if the water would have stayed out of my mouth and nose I would have enjoyed it more (if that was at all possible!). We spent about 2 hours there. But then as we were leaving I had my flipflops on and I walked slightly into the water to rinse them off. Well I started to walk out of the water and my flipflops slipped/floated off my feet. So I reached down to pick it up. The tide started to go out along with my shoe. The other shoe comes off and I scream to my sister to grab it for me. I so happened to have my towel on one arm and my bag (which has my camera in it) on the other. Then it hits me... I'm dragging my bag/camera in the water. I freaked out and ran to set it down and take my camera out, while my sister is still scavanging after my shoes. My camera, thankfully, was undamaged! I learned my lesson, first of all, not to where flipflops in the ocean while walking, and not to carry your camera over the water. Anyway, I need to go and let the next person use the computer. I didn't take a single photo yesterday, so no new ones to view. But if you haven't seen the other ones from the last couple days you can scroll down and view them. Atlantic-What a Wonder!

So today, we got up quite a bit earlier than we did yesterday morning. We all showered, ate cereal, and packed up what we needed for today. Then we finally hit the road, just about on our estimated time. We headed for St. Augustine. We got there (not too late in the morning) and went to the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument/Park. It is the oldest fort or something like that. Oh and St. Augustine is the oldest continuously inhabited city in the Untied States. It was pretty cool. We got to watch a cannon demostration where they blew a cannon (without the cannon ball of course) and it was LOUD! Anyway, it was neat and then we got postcards in the gift shop and Nana got Nemo and I each a National Park Passport. So for every National Park we go to we can get it stamp, etc. Next we went to Ripley's Believe it or Not. That was interesting. I didn't get any pictures there, because it's not a place where you take pictures; you have to experience it for yourself, type of thing. Then we went to eat at some little place called Pizzalies, or something like that. We had pizza and breadsticks. And then we went to the Alligator Farm. It was cool, they must have a total of 1,000 alligators or alteast 500. It was a HUGE amount. I took about maybe 30-40 pictures of alligators, etc. whie we were there, but I'll only share my best one with you. Then we headed to the beach (just for a few minutes/to view it!). My

sister and I had never seen the ocean before. So we went just to see it, but we'll go back tomorrow and swim. Man, just to see nothing but have the water meet the sky way, way out there is quite something/amazing. It is unreal, I love it! I wouldn't mind living here/neat the ocean, but the heat and humidity I would/do hate. Anyway, I'll have more on that tomorrow when we go back and I'll have more photos. But for now, I'll just share the pictures, that I already have from today, with you. Right now my dad, Nana, and sister are at the pool swimming, but I decided to stay home and update everything here. So I'll go for now. Jacksonville Zoo

(Two elephants splashing themselves with muddy water to cool themselves off) Today we were supposed to get up early and go to St. Augustine and everything, but we slept in with having so little sleep the previous night and the lag time and stuff. So we got up quite late, showered, ate, and finally got going sometime before noon. We decided to go to the zoo here. But first we went on the base and got tickets to the zoo (it was cheaper there or something) and got snacks and fruit to eat while we were there. So then we went to the zoo and we spent (I'm guessing) about 5-6 hours there and I got some really good photos. I haven't uploaded them onto my computer yet, so I'll do that sometime after dinner (hopefully) and then I'll share them all with you. I want to show them as a slideshow on the tv before I clear them on my camera. Anyway, not much else here. The zoo was awesome-the heat was gruelling. It was miserable, but hey my cold is not quite so bad today and I didn't feel like I was sick or anything so I was great! If the humidity was less it would have been more nice. So I should go for now, as my dad needs the internet and I need to go do other stuff (what I don't know...). Safe Arrival...

So, I woke up today at 4:00 a.m., showered, ate, and did the final things that we needed to do before leaving. I had completely forgotten that today was my birthday too, except when my parents called me inside to have prayer before we left, did they surprise me and remind me... Guess what? I got the New NIV Archeological Study Bible for my birthday. It's go photographs and what not about different places in the Bible as well as the history about the places, etc. It's so cool, but I didn't have room to bring it along with me. Bummer! I'll have to be patient and look at it more in detail/depth when I get back home in two weeks. I really want these 2 weeks to go slowly, but then again I also want my birthday presents (3 that will be waiting when I get home), but I guess I can only have one. So I'll enjoy Florida to it's fullest extent while I'm here. Anyway, we left the house at 5:00 a.m. and just as we'd left our neighborhood and turned onto the Highway the cell phone starts to ring. ... who could it be....-this early in the morning?... It was my dear southern friends from TX. They called to wish me a Happy Birthday! Thank you guys! So we get to the airport and park the van and load up our stuff onto a shuttle. Well we had to do this in a hurry as to not keep the shuttle waiting on us. So I had quickly grabbed my backpack and boarded the shuttle. When we got off the shuttle and were walking into check in at the airport I remembered that earlier I had taken my camera out of my backpack to put it around my neck and forgotten. So there my camera is left in the car and I need my camera, that's my passion. I immediately panicked. I have to have my camera. I told my parents about my stupid mistake and my dad said that we left in 50 minutes and it was too late. I was so mad at myself the rest of the time through check in and security. Then after we had proceeded through security my dad anounces that he is going to try and make it back to the car and get my camera. He handed us all our boarding passes so incase he didn't make it in time to board we could board and so on. This was a big risk, but... So then as we were boarding I called my dad to tell him and this is the story he tells me... He went and ran and got my camera. But then when we got to security then wouldn't let him through because they didn't understand why he went through security twice. I told him to tell them that "His daughter lost her camera and he went to go find/get it." He says, I told them that, but they don't listen. Right now their calling Washington D.C. and taking my camera apart. The part about my camera being taken aprart really freaked me out. Then my dad tells me that he was just joking and that he's walking up to our terminal now and it's all right. That made me feel a lot better. So I got my camera, thank you Daddy!, and we all made it safely onboard our flight. We flew to Houston, Texas (without switching planes there) and then switched planes in Nashville, Tennessee. Then from there we flew to Jacksonville, Florida. On all our flights I felt miserable, I have a cold (I've been sick on my birthday for my past 4 birthdays). I really enjoy flying when I'm not sick, but with a cold, not only was my throat, nose, and chest congested, but also my ears. That made me feel worse. With the high altitudes it made my nose run like crazy that it was hard keeping up with it... LOL... And with my nose being congested my ears and nose/fore head felt like there was a constant shooting pain going through them. Anyway, I still feel miserable, so I need to finish up this story and go to bed... But first even though I did/do feel bad I got two cool photos of the sun coming up over the Sandia and Manzano Mountains. Here is the one of the Sandias. And the one of the Manzanos. In Florida we met Nana and Papa and went to there house, settled in, and then ate dinner. We then had cake and ice cream for my ice cream. After eating quite a big dinner (not having eaten (I didn't eat a thing on the plane (because it was all unhealthy)) anything since 4:00 a.m. this morning-to 3:00 p.m.) we were all so full that we took a about 4 mile walk down to the store while I talked to my friend in Idaho on the phone for a while. This is a photo that I got of a gecko here on the lawn outside. The humidity here is quite something and it doesn't make me feel any better with my cold and all. That's it for tonight. Braces Off!

Yesterday we went to town. It was quite a busy day... But we got lots of things accomplished for our next trip/tomorrow. One major event of the day was that I finally got my bottom braces off! I was excited about that, but when I went in to have my retainer put on... They didn't tell me anything; what type of reatainer it was, that it wasn't removeable, what they were putting on my teeth, NOTHING! So then they finish up and say that I was good to go. Well since they didn't tell me anything or show me in a mirror I had no clue what they did to me. They didn't even tell me it wasn't removeable, which I thought was weird. So my mom asked me what they did, of course, I had no answer. My mom had to ask the receptionist what it was. Come to find out it's permanent for life (they permanently glued a brace/retainer to the back of my 6 bottom front teeth) and it may never come off. I was very upset and still am extemely upset about this whole incident. I don't know what we're going to do about it yet, seeing as we leave tomorrow that it's kind of short notice, and it'll have to wait 2 weeks until we get back. Last night I realized that my tongue was being cut by my retainer too. It's sharp on the bottom edge and keeps cutting my tongue... Ahh, enough, I'm mad, and I need to stop exposing my anger to you all. God Bless, ~Butterfly~

Rattlers!

Guess what? So today my friend, sister, and I went on a 6 mile bike ride. On the ride we saw 7 dead snakes on the road. I'm glad 3 of them were dead.... 3 were bull snakes, 1 a gardner snake, and 3 rattlesnakes (the ones that I was glad were dead). I hadn't taken my camera along on the bike ride. But later on when we were in the car driving down the road we saw (dead) a 2-3 foot Prairie Rattler not too far from our house. It's head was huge and this guy was like 2 inches wide. Here is a pic to prove it. Otherwise, not much else new around here at all. God Bless, ~Butterfly~

Fireworks and Rainbows!

Yesterday we went to church. Following that, we went to some friend's home to eat lunch. After that we just hung around until the evening, talking, eating popcorn, jumping on the trampoline, and talking again. But while we were there it was raining and someone just so happened to notice a rainbow. So I quickly dashed into the house, grabbed my camera, and went to take pictures. Here are two pictures that I took. I hadn't realized it then, but today looking back at the photos on my camera I see a very faint rainbow above the other. So I got a picture of a double rainbow!

Then last night on our way home my dad remembered that the neighbors were having a party. When we turned onto our street we realized they were having a PARTY. The whole street was lined with cars and we were lucky they didn't block our driveway. When I got out to open the gate I heard an exlosion. They were shooting off fireworks (something that we haven't been able to do for the past 2 years because of restrictions). I happened to have my camera with me so I told my dad that I was going to stay down and take pictures. So my sister and friend got out of the car to watch with me. Since it had been raining it was quite cold outside so after a while we sent my sister to go get us all jackets up from the house. The firework show was quite something. I got some great photos. I'm working on uploading them right now, so you all can see. But I took so many that it's going to be hard to choose.

Dirt, Sun, and Cactus

I found some more photos that I thought you might enjoy looking at. These were all taken quite some time ago, near the begining of my photography carrer.

This one was actualy taken not all that long ago (like a month or so). It is a picture of the New Mexico ground scorched by the hot sun. This is a picture of a sunset in New Mexico. I like this picture because of the way the telephone lines curve.

This one was actually only 2 weeks ago. It's of cactus and a field of sunflowers in the background.

This is one of my very first photos (as I recall). It is of a New Mexico sunrise.

Westen Diamondbacks and Bugs

Well as you know, Monday was Labor Day. Although it was a holiday and most schools were off, I didn't have it off because I just plain enjoy school! But anyway, let me get to my story. First of all we have (more) new neighbors and there is a boy who is around our ages. Anyway, we all (the 5 of us kids in the neighborhood that hang out) were just riding outs bikes up and down our dirt streets. I happened to notice a long reptile on the side of the road. I pulled over on my bike to take a closer look and it was a snake. By looking at the patten of the skin of the snake and the shape of it's head you can tell what type of snake it is. By doing so I figured it wasn't a Bull Snake (those are the good kinds around here, they keep away the rodents and such) and radioed my dad on the walkie-talkies and told him. By taking a deeper look at the snake's head and pattern of skin I figured it to be type of rattlesnake. I didn't happen to have my camera on me so I made a quick dash up to the house (which was a work out with going fast on my bike; the hills and streets and all) and grabbed my camera. When I came back another neighbor had come out and verified that it was indeed a Western Diamondback Rattlesnake. I called my mom and she headed down on her bike to see. The neighbor got a shovel and was going to kill it (after I got my pictures of course). It was about 1' long; they can only strike 1/3 - 1/2 of their body length, so we could get pretty close to him. When our neighbor tried to kill him, the snake kept striking at the shovel. It was pretty cool! Anyway, that's about that adventure (in photography)! Next... Yesterday I was raking weeds in the back yard and a praying mantis came crawling out. So I quickly grabbed him and took him to a nearby sunflower and asked my sister to bring my camera. Another Weekend Gone By...

Yesterday we went to church again. We had Sabbath School, Church, and then potluck. Afterward we had some friends come over and goofed around and looked at vacation pictures. Then we ate dinner and then headed over to some friends house to have a music session. We had fun singing songs, but I was really tired. Today I am at work with my dad. I'm spoiled here with the internet connection speed. At home it is awfully slow and here it just spoils you. Nothing really is new, no new photographs or anything, just thought I say "Good Day!" Ahh, another day of school gone by. Yesterday I finally got our vacation pictures printed! And I made an enlargement of one of my favorite photographs for a special person! I was glad to get them all printed; it's one less thing to think about/to do! Not much else is going on. Just another week of shcool is finished-one less week to go. Yes! I can't wait til summer already! I hope the rest of the school year flows as quickly as this week did! But yet I want it to slow down when I'm having fun. I should probably finish this up and then go do dishes, clean up my room, and go on a bike ride. I'm been cooped up all this morning/afternoon. God Bless, ~Butterfly~
